The Romantics show last night was awesome! 80's Enuf opened the show with a fantastic set that really got the crowd going. They had some crazy outfits! The Romantics can still rock pretty hard. They got called back on stage to do an encore, and the crowd kept cheering so they kept playing. For a free show with $10 rewards gambling as well, the Newcastle Gaming Center has a great outdoor concert setup with food and drinks and a lot more. Thursday, July 14th Groove Merchants

The sun was perfectly set at Red Rock as the Groove Merchants came onto the stage starting off with the, oh so popoular, Sunday Morning song by Maroon 5. The relaxed environment and refreshing sounds of the band brought hype amoungst the patio crowd as Mark Long and Kendall Davis started their set.

The Red Rock atmosphere was as delighting and playful as the band! By the end of their first song everyone on the patio was singing along as couple gradually began to get up and dance by the beautiful water of Lake Hefner. My friends truely enjoyed the tune of the band and cannot wait to get back to the waterfront setting and delicious food of Red Rock.

The Groove Merchants were fabulously entertaining! They brought a unique sound to top artists such as Maroon 5 and Keith Urban.

Derek Harris Acoustic

Derek Harris Acoustic had a fabulous performance at Red Rock in Oklahoma City on July 13, 2011. The patio was full of people enjoying the great music and the delicious foods and drinks that Red Rock had to offer. They served a stuffed poblano pepper as an appetizer that was mouthwatering! The band played different songs such as, "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley and "Trouble" by Ray LaMontagne.

The weather was perfect that evening; there were just enough clouds in the sky to hide the scoulding sun! Red Rock's patio backs up to beautiful Lake Hefner. There were several sailboats out on the water enjoying the weather as well.

The light house that is just next to Red Rock. This is the perfect venue to enjoy a relaxing evening of live music.

Here are a few interns that met with Derek Harris Acoustic before they began their performance! (from left: Tiffany, Aja, Bonny, and Jordan) We really enjoyed their music and would definitely like to see them perform again soon.

Steve Crossley-One Man Band

Steve Crossley played at Red Rock Canyon Grille, OKC, on Wednesday, June 22. Crossley played a jazz filled set to a crowd of onlookers. His set was performed outside in front of Lake Hefner for the guest of the restaurant. The music was great and atmosphere was friendly.

The view behind Crossley was breath taking. It was filled with boats and calm water. It was great to see after a long day at work. Bonny Blackmon and Shaunica Byrd were the interns that
came out and supported Steve Crossley. We had a blast and enjoyed the nice weather.

BIG MOUTH

Big Mouth had an incredible performance at Baker Street in Oklahoma City last week on June 15, 2011. They covered a variety of different songs to fit anyone's interest. It did not matter what song was being played, there were always fans gettin' loose on the dance floor!

The band was very friendly and entertaining; they enjoyed cracking a few jokes to us as we talked with them during their break.

Jason Stringfellow at OKC Toby Keith's

Jason Stringfellow performed at OKC Toby Keith's Bar and Grill, June 11. They played their country songs along with popular songs in their line up. The whole restaurant was loving each moment of all their songs and even singing along. It was a fun night for the country trio. They were amazing.

As the band starting their first song the place was crowded. Plus they had some fans taking pictures infront of the stage right as they began to sing.

Right before their break they were singing and people where singing along to a popular country song.

Big Mouth at Baker Street in OKC June 15th

This past Wednesday, some of the interns went out to Baker Street Pub & Grill in OKC to see Big Mouth, an awesome band form Dallas, Texas. From their opening song to the end of their performance, they were a hit. Many of the people who attended danced by the band to their songs, including their slower songs as well. Big Mouth did a great job playing a variety of songs, ranging from "Pride and Joy" by SRV, to "Uprising" by Muse.

To complement their music, Baker Street also sold a great variety of American and authentic English food, as well as delicious inexpensive drinks. It was a great way for anyone to have a good time without having to empty their wallets or bank accounts.

Big Mouth did a great job engaging the audience and making sure everyone had a great time. They are definitely professionals and we hope they will join us more often in Oklahoma City!

Voodoo Crush @ LOS CABOS in Jenks

Voodoo Crush Live!
This past Friday night, Voodoo Crush performed to a live audience at Los Cabos on the Riverwalk in Jenks. Not only was it a full crowd inside for dinner, but many sat and enjoyed the live music happening outside Los Cabos as well! They played a series of sets ranging from old rock & roll to more contemporary songs like Animal by Neon Trees. It was a great atmosphere to be in and I enjoyed listening to them very much!

DRIVE at Baker's St. Pub & Grill

The Box Talent interns were at Baker's St. in Oklahoma City last Thursday night and had an awesome time listening to DRIVE. The band sounded great and the bar was full of Oklahomans ready to have a fun night out. Vocalists Tyler and Trevor Smith were a hit. They joked with audience members throughout the show and covered a lot of fun, well-known songs that kept bar-goers out of their seats and and on the dance floor.

It was obvious that the members of DRIVE love putting on a good show. I was really impressed when someone requested a song that the band didn't know that well but they played it anyway. Trevor quickly looked up the lyrics on his cell phone and was able to sing the song. It was "No Rain" by Blind Melon and it sounded great. This is the kind of band that will do whatever is takes to put on a terrific show and make sure everyone is having a good time!

March 31,2011 the interns at Box Talent watched SquadLive at Dan O'Brians, the turnout was great and SquadLive had the crowd entertained all night. Attention Oklahoma musicians! This weekend could be your ticket to success in the music business!

Box Talent's very own Jeff Scheel is part of a panel of industry experts for two "Oklahoma Music Business 101" events in Oklahoma this weekend. Jeff has been in the music business for 25 years and knows both the artist and the business side of the industry. He is best known as the lead singer for Gravity Kills, a St. Louis based band popular in the 90's. Box Talent Agency is lucky to have his expertise as a part of our company and is excited to see him as a panel member for this event. The "Oklahoma Music Business 101" events will take place in Oklahoma City on Saturday, March 26th and in Tulsa on Sunday, March 27th. Both are from 1pm to 5pm. The OKC event will take place at Blue Door (28th and McKinley) and the Tulsa event will take place at The Ivey (33rd and Peoria).

Other panel members include Jay Shanker, a Yale/NYU Law graduate who has practiced entertainment law in Los Angeles and Oklahoma, music producer Chris Freels, entertainment attorney Tomy McDonald, and Matt Stansberry, a musician who also has experience in the business side of the music industry. The events will cover a number of relevant topics like the music industry landscape, contract basics, how to get your music recorded and out there, publishing & licensing, touring, merchandising, management, and marketing. The Jetset Kings

This past Saturday night The Jetset Kings filled the dance floor at Baker's St. Pub & Grill in Oklahoma City. The Jetset Kings, originally hailing from Tulsa, were a fun and lively band that got the crowd singing and dancing with crowd favorites like "My Prerogative" by Bobby Brown and "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley. The band hit the stage around 9:45, performing to a packed audience. The band set the tempo for the night and was bound and determined to make sure everyone was having a great time!
I had a blast listening to the band and watching the crowd dance around the dance floor. The Jetset Kings brought such a great and entertaining energy to Baker's St. that made it hard for anyone not to at least tap their feet to the beat. If you weren't there Saturday night then you definitely missed out! But don't worry, you can catch The Jetset Kings jamming again at Baker's St. in Tulsa on March 3! Hope to see you there!

How about some live music this Valentine's Day weekend?

Valentine's Day falls on a Monday this year, which means most couples will have to find time during the weekend to celebrate. With so many Box Talent bands performing around Oklahoma, this Valentine's Day weekend is the perfect opportunity for you and your sweetheart to experience some excellent live music. There's so much to choose from!

In Tulsa, Crossland will be playing at Baker Street starting at 8 pm on Friday the 11th. Get there early to enjoy the last couple hours of their happy hour. They have select drafts and bottles all under $3 and pitchers for only $7. There is also no cover this Friday! Another high energy cover band, Jump Suit Love, will be playing at Sideline in Tulsa on Friday night and then at Fishbonz on Saturday night. Both venues have happy hour from 2 to 7 pm with specials on domestic long necks. If you really like Fishbonz go there on Friday night and check out The Jumpshots. If you like what you hear, you can see The Jumpshots again on Saturday night at Baker Street.

Not too far from the Tulsa scene, C J Moloney's in Broken Arrow is a great place if you're looking for Irish beer and live music. You won't be able to stop dancing Friday night when Dynamo Hum performs and then you'll want to dance all night again with The Sellouts on Saturday. The shows at C J Moloney's don't start until later, but you don't want to miss their happy hour, 4 to 7 pm, when they're serving domestic bottles for only $2 and drafts for $1.50.

For music lovers in the Norman area, you can check out Annie Up at The River Lounge inside the Riverwind Casino on Friday night. This enthusiastic female fronted band will definitely deliver a fun, fast-paced show. While at the Riverwind, stop in to the Autograph's Sports Bar. They're offering February specials - $3 Miller Lites and $5 Grey Goose Vodka drinks - in addition to nightly specials. Friday's special is Long Island Ice Teas for only $4.50.

For any Greens Country Club members you can enjoy an exclusive Valentine's event on Saturday evening from 7 to 11 pm. You can choose either a 3 course or 5 course meal to share with someone special while you listen to the smooth sounds of Wade Tower.

The Groove Merchants kicked off Halloween weekend Friday, October 29 at Riverwind Casino with a set full of fun and energetic songs. They played to a packed crowd in the Riverwind Lounge with many audience members getting up to dance along to such numbers as Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" and Rascal Flatt's "Bless the Broken Road."

The couple in the picture above said the music coming from the lounge brought them from gambling floor to get a couple of drinks and be entertained by the Groove Merchants.

Formed in 2001, the Groove Merchants have provided Oklahoma City with some of the best cover music in the metro. This 9-piece horn band has covered music ranging from Michael Jackson to Bob Marley. Chris Sullivan at The Greens

This past Friday Chris Sullivan played an excellent show at The Greens Country Club. Chris is an artist who has been in the business for several years, growing in talent with each passing year.

Friday was an especially fun evening for those in the crowd. The Greens was hosting "Whiskeys Around the World," where guests were invited to sample fine whiskeys, scotches, and cigars. The atmosphere was very welcoming as members enjoyed the special event and Chris' music.

The Greens is a well-established country club with several membership options. One of the more innovative memberships is their Social Membership. Social members are invited to use the three swimming pools and clubhouse facilities at The Greens. These members are also invited to any and all social functions held at the club, just like this one! Finding the perfect membership for your needs is very easy at The Greens. They have several options that can work with any lifestyle.
Both Chris and The Greens came together to provide an excellent show for all involved. From the soothing sounds, tasty drinks and food, and classy yet fun atmosphere... the night was an all around success.

Brandon Clark Band at Toby Keith's OKC

On Friday, October 15, I witnessed an awesome gelling of a band and their venue. Toby Keith I love this Bar & Grill is a country/pop band's nirvana. The crowd is ready for a great meal and great entertainment, and that's exactly what they got. The band hit the stage at 9:00p and started the set with some past and current hits. Their voices were seperate, but the harmonies were dead on. However, it was their instruments and musical talent that meshed so well with the scene.

All 4 members are from Oklahoma, but not all have been involved since the beginning of the band. The group is set now and they have been working together for several years. They sing songs from Johnny Cash, Mellencamp, Jennings and mix in some current country/pop artists. The group's charisma and humor are felt just talking with them, but really shines on stage.

The Brandon Clark Band is definately fun and entertaining! Look for them at upcoming shows and events!

The Sellouts' Sold Out Show

If you weren't at Tapwerks in Bricktown last Saturday, you missed one heck of a show put on by none other than the famed Sellouts. Jacob, Dallas, Sky, Preston, and Kash performed on the upstairs level of the bar and grill where there were pool tables, alcohol, smoking, and of course, great music. A fedora sat on top of Jacob's head as he sang songs like Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours," John Mayer's "Waiting on the World to Change," the ever popular "Ain't No Sunshine," Sublime's "Santeria," Tracy Jackson's "Give Me One Reason," and my personal favorite, Maroon 5's "Sunday Morning" to a packed house.

I enjoyed every minute of The Sellouts' performance. They charmed the crowd and even wished a girl in the audience a happy birthday. When they finished a song, they would make it a point to humbly thank everyone for a much deserved applause. With a cigarette in one hand and a microphone or instrument in the other, these guys are my definition of cool. They know how to rock a show and they look good doing it. If the opportunity arises to see them live, don't miss it this time!

Casper McWade at Toby Keith's

On Friday, September 24, Casper McWade delighted the crowd with his country tunes that kept the evening rolling. McWade played many classic country songs, including one of the crowd's favorites, Roger Miller's "King of the Road". Among the restaurant's guests, there was a group celebrating one of their birthdays. They were pleased to have their celebration at Toby Keith's with such wonderful entertainment.

McWade has been enticed by music since he was a child growing up in his hometown of Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was greatly influenced by Irish folk music played to him by a late relative. He was later influenced by such artists as Roger Miller, Hank Williams Sr., and many other country greats. McWade thoroughly enjoys playing at all Toby Keith's locations because they have a great environment.

Other guests that were entertained by McWade's performance were two college students visiting Bricktown. They found McWade's performance to be different from the contemporary country music, but still very enjoyable.

The night was a great start to the weekend. Great drinks, great food and great music!

"S.T.A.T. is the place to be."

On Friday, September 10, the place to be was the River Lounge at the Riverwind Casino. The entertainment was the Stat Band, whose siren sounds tempered the ringing of slot machines and enticed gamblers from the casino floor onto the dance floor.

The Stat Band started with a classic from my generation, The Sugarhill Gang's, "Rapper's Delight." Smiles abounded on the faces in the audiencec as they tried to remember the lyrics and sing or rap along with the band. The band then slowed things down couples moved onto the dance floor as Ricky Spotwood, the lead vocalist, swayed through the crowd serenading ladies with the soulful sounds of Usher and The Temptations. Those who chose not to show their moves on the dance floor, chair danced (myself included) by nodding their heads and pumping their arms in or out of tune.

The band showed profound energy throughout the show and was determined to entertain the audience. After speaking with Spotwood during a break in which he stopped at every table in the lounge, I felt his palpable energy and better understand his dedication to his craft and to his fans. His passion and the band's energy even drove one fan to start doing cartwheels.

The Stat Band is a five piece band that plays top 40, R&B and Funk from the past 15 years. Based out of Oklahoma City, the Stat Band has played countless venues across the state and Texas and has opened for many major acts and showcases. Members include Ricky Spotwood, lead vocals; Mike Robinson, drums and vocals; Maurice Scott, keyboard and vocals; Michael Lee, bass guitar and vocals; and Jody Brown, guitar and vocals.

The River Lounge at the Riverwind Casino is located in Norman off of Hwy 9. The lounge hosts free, live entertainment every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Check out their upcoming events at www.riverwind.com.

Time Machine at Baker Street Pub

This past Friday Baker Street Pub was packed with fans of one of our liveliest bands, Time Machine.

Arriving an hour before the band was set to go on, I was unable to find a seat due to the amount of people waiting for the show to begin. Soon, I began chatting with Glenna, who has been a Time Machine fan for years now.

“We love the band. Whenever they are in Oklahoma we follow them to each venue they play. We saw them here last night but can’t wait for tonight’s show to begin.”

The band played a number of different songs ranging from classic hits to current favorites. Some of the artists the band covered include The Jackson 5, Katy Perry, Huey Lewis and the News, Michael Jackson, and Prince… just to name a few!

Baker Street is a great venue for live music. Not only was the band able to pack the dance floor, but they were also able to move around the bar and interact more closely with the audience. One of the highlights of the night was definitely when Shonna, lead vocals, and Ryan, trumpet player, stood on the tables and chairs.

The crowd was so interactive and loved being so near the musicians.

Wade Tower @ Martini Lounge!

Boulevard Steakhouse's Martini Lounge was crowded with surprise birthdays, couples sharing martinis, groups meeting for drinks, and even out-of-towners back for the second time during their stay. Saturday, August 7th was a lovely evening filled with enjoyable classics from Wade Tower and delicious drinks!

Wade Tower stood alone with his vintage microphone, dressed to the 9's, crooning old classics such as Frank Sinatra's "Come Fly With Me", "My Way", and "It Happened in Monterey" while mixing it up with a few country tunes as well as a special request from those out-of-towners who came back for a second show-- "That's Amore!" Between songs Wade would chat with tables, welcome new comers to the lounge, and even led the crowd in singing "Happy Birthday" for a group celebrating at the steakhouse.

The Martini Lounge is dark and intimate with large comfortable chairs scattered around small candlelit tables. There is a wide variety of specialty martinis to choose from, we decided to try the Caramel Appletini and the Boulevard Bellini-tini! Both were to die for as I'm sure all of the selections are!

If you're in the mood for a classy evening with your significant other or even a night out with friends, check out the Martini Lounge and look for Wade Tower's dazzling and engaging performance and enjoy a martini--or two!

Aaron Newman at Red Rock Canyon Grill

This past Wednesday Aaron Newman played a great acoustic show at Red Rock Canyon Grill. Aaron has been playing for many years now and displays a calm confidence while entertaining and interacting with his audience.

With songs by Michael Jackson, John Mayer and Elton John, Aaron was able to play a bit of something for everyone. His laid back vocal style went great with the tasty food at Red Rock, making for a perfect combination.

If you haven't tried Red Rock yet, you really must. Not only is the food wonderful but the view is absolutely gorgeous. The restaurant is right off of Lake Hefner, adding a peaceful quality to the dining setting.

Beautiful views in every direction!

When you combine great live music and delicious food, you cannot go wrong! Everyone involved had a great time... we can't wait to go back!

Kanaga at Toby Keith's

Saturday night at Toby Keith's Bar and Grill, Kanaga played a great show in front of an excited audience while they enjoyed their dinner and drinks. There were many people out on Bricktown that came by Toby Keith's and heard a great show!

"We love Kanaga, said Jennifer with a bachlorette party. They are starting our night out right with music that all of us have been enjoying. This band is great, right up there with Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz."

Kanaga is a three piece acoustic band from the Oklahoma City area. They have an acoustic rock/pop style and they really know how to keep the crowd having a good time.

Rocky Kanaga and Mike Triplett played a two piece show on Saturday night. The music they played consisted of their own versions of Elvis Presley, Stuck on You, Jack Johnson, Bubble Toes, The Killers, All the Things I've Done, and many more.

Kanaga played familiar songs that the crowd could sing along and bob their heads to. One of the favorites was the Beetles cover song, Come Togehter.

It was a great show and everyone should get a chance to see and hear them play!

Avenue @ Baker St. OKC

The bar was packed as Avenue performed at Baker St. Pub in OKC on Saturday, July 10th. The tables in front of the stage were filled with groups and couples enjoying great drinks and even better music.

Avenue is a cover band from OKC that frequents Baker St. as well as Tapwerks and many of the casinos around the state! Their songlist ranges from Maroon 5, Black Crowes, and The Killers to Britney Spears, Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga.

The band kept the crowd on the dancefloor with hits like "Tainted Love" and, my favorite of the night, "Poker Face".

The wide range of music allowed all ages to dance and enjoy the night! Avenue is scheduled to play at Cherokee Casino July 31st and has a variety of shows (even some out of state!) coming up this summer.

As couples and groups settled at their tables to enjoy good food and drinks, Rockwell from Stephen Speaks opened his set with Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason", one of many unique covers he played throughout the night.

The set list featured a wide range from favorites like "Out Of My League" to the Beatles' "Come Together", Citizen Cope's "Sun Will Rise", Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River" as well as a few Dave Matthews tunes and requests from the audience. The patio setting was perfect and intimate as Rockwell played bare foot and listeners could enjoy the Oklahoma sunset while enjoying great music.

As the night wound down, Rockwell shared that he is currently working on a studio album in Louisianna with producers who have worked with the likes of Dave Matthews and Citizen Cope. He is very excited about moving forward with his music as are Stephen Speaks' listeners who will be awaiting the album's release anxiously!

Beautiful sunset, drinks, appetizers, and desserts are only a few good things among others that accompanied Stephen Speaks at Nonna’s last weekend. Stephen Speaks is a local band that played some cover hits as well as some of his own originals. The band was a two man show that really turned out to be a great crowd pleaser. There was a large party and Rockwell (the lead singer) was happy to play request and he even learned a few songs between his sets for the party!

Overall the crowd really enjoyed their music whether they came specifically for him or it was a nice surprise to their dinner it was overall a great success.

Stars is an Oklahoma City based band playing cover songs from the 70's to today. The variety of music was great for all audiences, playing songs from "Super Freak" by Rick James to "I Like the Way You Move" by Outkast.

Red Rock Canyon Grill is on Lake Hefner so it's a great place to watch The Stars Band play in the sunset.

Mix Tape at TapWerks

This past Friday one of our favorite bands, Mix Tape, played at TapWerks in downtown Oklahoma City. Mix Tape was helping Putnam City West Class of 2000 celebrate their ten year reunion and did not disappoint! The cover band typically plays rock, country, pop and R&B but decided to keep it mostly country on Friday.

Mix Tape was able to keep people on the dance floor all night long! Both the crowd and the band absolutely loved it!

Renee Hays serves as the lead vocals for the band. Not only is she talented but she is a wonderful front woman. She communicates with the crowd easily and is able to keep fans entertained in between songs and sets. I was able to ask her a few questions about her current relationship with Box Talent.

"I've been familiar with Box Talent for quite a while now but only just recently signed an exclusive contact with the company. So far everything has been great! We've been getting awesome gigs, like the one tonight, and have been really happy."

On Thursday night, for the first time in awhile, Logan's Grill and Bar decided to have live music. The band was set up in the back of the bar where there would normally be tables and chairs. It was the perfect set up for the band to rock out and enough room for people to dance around. We were doing a bar crawl so the group of girls I was with were only there for 30 to 45 minutes but it was enough time for us to take advantage of the dance floor (which not many people were doing). The band's name was Happy Katz. It is a local band that has been together for a while. They have two lead singers, two back up singers, person on the drums, piano and guitar. They played hip hop hits like, "Blame It" and "Golddigger." The band was a hit and something that should be a regular event for Logan's!

My first time at Red Rock Canyon Grill was a great experience. Part of the reason for this amazing time was listening to Matt Blagg. Watching the most beautiful Oklahoma sunset on lake Hefner with the smooth vocals of Matt Blagg in the background made for a perfect evening. Matt sung some of my favorite songs from artists such as Michael Buble and Elton John. My favorite part of the evening was talking with Matt on his set breaks. Matt seemed extremely happy to be performing at Red Rock and always had a smile on his face. Lets just say that if you were not at Red Rock on Friday night you missed a great time!

Stephen Speaks at Tapworks

I cannot tell yall how excited I was to, not only, watch Stephen Speaks perform, but to actually meet the band. I jumped on the opportunity the second I saw it possible. My favorite song of Stephen Speaks is "Out of My League," which was played during the band's first set. Through out the time the band played, they promoted their recently released album, "No More Doubt".

As the night went on, there were many people on the dance floor. The people who filled the dance floor the most where a group of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity guys and a group of Panhellenic girls who were dancing the Texas two-step and having what looked like a great time. (And from experience it was!) The University of Oklahoma Greek students were in Bricktown celebrating two friends birthdays by renting a party bus and coming to Tapworks to enjoy a night of great music and dancing.

While watching Stephen Speaks preform, I noticed how happy and excited it made the band members, especially lead singer Rockwell Ryan Ripperger, was to see the dance floor fill up. It was also apparent that this band was enjoying every minute of preforming, even if there wasn't a sole on the dance floor.

If you weren't at Tapwerks Saturday night you missed out! Stephen Speaks rocked the house at Tapwerks! The band (Rockwell-vocals, Matt-guitar, Joey-Bass, Daniel-drums) played their famous originals ('Passenger Seat' & 'Out of My League') and some originals that are coming soon with a mix of great covers ranging from Brittney Spears to Justin Timberlake to Tracy Chapman!

On the note of Tracy Chapman, Stephen Speaks played 'Give Me One Reason' for the ladies in a bachelorette party who danced their hearts out, pink boa and all!

Lindsey, girlfriend of Rockwell, said the band can get together and play songs they've never played together before and the music just happens! I guess when you've got it, things just come naturally!

Stephen Speaks kept the crowd dancing and toes tapping all night long. One person even said they needed to go home and search for some of the band's cds! So next time Stephen Speaks is playing near you, put your big kid pants on and head on over for a great night of music!

Annie Up took the Riverwind Lounge by storm with a unique blend of music that kept the crowd entertained and screaming for more. Annie Up provides the listener with songs from every genre that covers a widespread spectrum of hits from yesterday and today. With impeccable harmonies and enthusiastic stage presence, Annie Up demands the spotlight. The two beautiful lead singers,Alaina and Kelsey, showed their range as they belted out hits from Journey to Taylor Swift. The lead guitarist Billy, also showed off his pipes and his incredible guitar chops with a collection of songs that had the crowd singing along with every word. Bill, the other guitarist, showed his shredding skills with a number of face melting solos that left the crowd stumbling to pick up their jaws. Kirk, the drummer, and Kasey, the bassist, kept the low end sounding smooth and kept the show moving at a steady pace. One party goer said he thought they were great and loves being able to sing along with the band.

Annie Up played live at The Riverwind Casino

The two main singers are two outgoing women that light up the stage! The band rocked out and the listeners were excited. There were many people getting up and dancing in front of the stage and plenty more singing the songs the band was playing. Annie Up is a real crowd pleaser, they enjoy getting the audience involved and getting everyone to have a great time! The room was packed with a great audience and some people would stand outside the room just to listen and watch. I really enjoyed watching them in concert. I was right there with the rest of the crowd singing and dancing.

Toby Wayne really rocked out Friday night while everyone enjoyed the great food and fun atmosphere. The band opened up with "That's Right Where I Need to Be" by Gary Allan and the crowd never looked back. Toby Keith's I love This Bar & Grill was full of great people who were ready to have fun.

Being the night before Halloween, costumes were present in the crowd. People were dressed for a night of memories and excitement and I am pretty sure they were not disappointed. Toby Wayne and his band played country hits from "Guitars, Cadillacs" by Yoakam Dwight to "The Dance" by Garth Brooks. "My Girl" by The Temptations was even added to the songlist with some country swing added to it.

During the concert I heard many "yee-haws" and "whoo-hoos!" People were obviously enjoying themselves! It was a great night to enjoy tasty food, great music and a fun atmosphere.

The start of the Bricktown Brewery Bash was slow at first, but then then things picked up nicely. The STAVE is an amazing two man band,with nothing more than a guitar and a bongo drum. Playing smooth cover songs from the 80's and 90's, everyone was singing along and couples were dancing. Even little babies where enjoying the smooth country/alternative rock music.

Saturday night at the Bricktown Brewery’s 17th Birthday Bash, Lemma provided the perfect atmosphere and backdrop for OU football fans and families who were out and about. As the band played new songs from their recently recorded album, people were enjoying football, brewhouse beers, and great food.

Lemma is a four piece band out of Oklahoma who has an innovative acoustic sound with a lively edge. You can see that Coldplay and Jack Johnson had some influence in their original songs, but it is interlaced with Lemma’s own originality. People were lining up to buy CDs before the show was over.

Box Talent presented five bands to help the Bricktown Brewery celebrate their 17th Birthday in Oklahoma City including The Stat Band, Superfreak, and 2 am. The played from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. and kept the people coming all night long.

Last Friday at Russell’s, Electric Avenue took the crowd back to the 70’s playing disco favorites “Brickhouse" by Commodores and “Shake Your Booty” by KC and the Sunshine Band. Always keeping the audience guessing, they dedicated “Brown-eyed Girl” by Van Morrison to the ladies and in a surprise turn of events, threw in Nelly’s “Hot in Here!”

Riverwind Casino in Norman was rocking last Saturday night when the Stat Band played live from River Lounge. "Word Up" by Cameo opened up the show and the energy never stopped. The five piece band from Oklahoma played songs from a variety of decades and genres including Prince, Blackstreet and even Brooks and Dunn. The lead singer of the band, Ricky, wanted everyone to get down and have some fun.

Kristen Stehr performed a great set at Toby Keith’s Bar & Grill in Oklahoma City this past Friday. She played an acoustic set and her line-up consisted of acoustic guitar (herself), electric lead guitar, fiddle, and she even had a saxophone player in the mix – a less common presence for a country music venue. In between her first and second sets, her violin player, J. Wade. Cross, mentioned that Kristen had asked her current line-up to play just days before the show.

However, Kristen and company proved they could deliver, entertaining and pleasing the crowd with many favorites throughout their multiple sets, spanning across country, pop, blues, and rock genres. Her first set began with “Famous in a Small Town” by Miranda Lambert, followed by “Sounds So Good” by Ashton Shepherd. She continued with an old favorite from Dolly Parton, before changing things up with a few blues tunes, all of which received positive reactions from the audience.

Fellow musician and friend, Matt Bowlin, was at the show and was called up on stage during the second set for a couple of tunes. He had show at Toby Keith’s Bar & Grill in Tulsa the following night. A couple by the name of David & Julie had stopped through on their way back to Colorado from Arkansas and mentioned that “they liked what they heard.”

It was a splendid evening on the Lakeside Seafood Grill patio at Lake Hefner Friday August 14th. Kanaga, a three-piece Oklahoma City band provided a phenomenal show with their acoustic driven rock sound.

Although the crowd was initially small, as the sun began to set people flooded in around the bar and enjoyed the music as the band continued their set.

The band played several songs off their new independently produced CD but also complimented their set with covers from Dave Matthews, Oasis, Led Zeppelin, Dispatch and many more.

During one of the breaks, the members of Kanaga gave the Box Talent representatives a copy of their latest CD. Even the boats that were cruising along the shoreline decided to drop in and listen to the exciting sound of Kanaga.

Band Camp takes over Mama Roja's! Box Talent OUT and ABOUT team was joined by excited fans to listen to the cool tunes of Band Camp on Saturday night. Band Camp is comprised of four members including Chris (Lead Vocals and Guitar), Mickie (Guitar and Vocals), Thrasher (Bass and Vocals) and the newest member, John (Drums).

The Tulsa based band opened their show with such hits as “Beverly Hill’s” and “Should I Stay or Should I Go”. These classic crowd pleasers worked their magic as music lovers of all age flew to the dance floor to rock out.

One lucky girl was even invited on stage and allowed to request a song to celebrate her birthday! The lovely lady was joined by many of her friends on the dance floor to enjoy the song dedicated to her.

The band seamlessly blended a mix of staple dance floor music and original Band Camp songs. Lead singer Chris Clark kept things interesting by blending both traditional lyrics with a dash of his sense of humor. One particular favorite was the band’s original “Courtney Love” in which the band proclaims, “ I’m in love with Courtney Love, she cool, she breaks all the rules!” Well Band Camp, by the looks of things everyone is in love with you!

The Box Talent Out and About Crew headed to Riverwind Casino in Norman to see the Groove Merchants perform! They started off with Gavin Degraw's "Chariot." Soon before long, the band was playing many familiar favorites. "Roxanne" by the Police had everyone at the casino intrigued and had the whole crowd going. They even had the bartenders yelling at the band to play more songs.

The lead singer, Josh, had his relatives along with him for the ride. When the Groove Merchants tried taking a break, the women flocked towards the band asking for pictures and requesting more music. All the attention was going to Mike and Kyle who had women falling all over them.

"I love Kyle Martin on the drums ," said a Groove Merchants fan. Around 11:30 PM the band was still goimg strong as couples were dancing to the sound of the Groove Merchants. The people couldn't get enough and didn't want them to get off stage.

Jason Marbach and the Barbarossa launched their set with “Good Hearted Woman” by Waylon Jennings that was full of energy and got the crowd moving. Their show included a couple of original songs such as “Brazas River,” but they mostly sang covers ranging from Cross Canadian Ragweed to Johnny Cash. Andy, the bass guitarist, had only been playing with Jason for 4 months but sounded like they had been together for years. The sound of Jason’s voice mixed with the bass and lead guitar was perfect for the atmosphere. Jason mentioned that they were missing their lead guitarist and he had to pick up the slack. I cannot wait to hear them play with the whole band together.

Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill was especially busy on Friday night full of energy and excitement. The restaurant included a patio that is right off the Bricktown Canal and a stage that faces the open dining area and bar. The venue is perfect for concerts because there is not a bad seat in the house.

The members of the Groove Merchants entertained the crowd on Lake Hefner at Mama Roja's Mexican restaurant, Friday June 26. With phenomenal vocals by lead vocalist, Josh Cruise and the upbeat sound of the other five band members, they kept the audience captivated and wanting more. As usual, the Box Talent Out and About crew was present to get snapshots and mingle with the fans.

The band played a wide variety of cover songs including "Chariot" and "I Don't Want to Be" by Gavin Degraw.

While scorching under the summer heat, people enjoyed drinks and delicious Mexican cuisine, mixed with the thrilling sound of the Groove Pilots.

Who’s Joe Fazzio, a duo made up of musicians B.J. Lowell and Mark Vollertsen, brought the temperature up a few notches Saturday at Red Rock Canyon Grill. Even in 100+ degree weather, the guys cranked up the heat with their wide variety of music. The Out and About crew was there to cheer on the band and take pictures of the diners having fun and singing with the guys.

"The mix of the piano and guitar makes every song unique and enjoyable."

The new outdoor bar at Red Rock created a perfect place to listen to the band, while enjoying the lakeside atmosphere. The familiar list of classic tunes and today's music kept the crowd energized throughout every song.

The members of Citizen 5 brought life and energy to Russell’s on June 20th.
The Box Talent Out and About crew was there to take pictures of the band and the crowd and to note the audience support of the group.

The band is made up of four males and a female lead vocalist.

“The lead singer really belts it out and I love that she’s a woman able to sing a song well that was meant for a male vocalist,” a regular of Russell’s said.

Citizen 5 played pop/rock music from today, mingled with a few songs from the 80’s.
“This band really tears it up. They’re great!” Mike said, a Russell’s regular, who had never heard Citizen 5 before. Citizen 5 and Russell’s provided a very entertaining and exciting night for the fun crowd.

The Stave at Drinkz on Friday, June 5, 2009

The Stave, formally made up of Steve, Dave, and John, put on quite an entertaining show at Drinkz bar and lounge, located in the heart of Bricktown on Reno. The guys were out in full force on June 5, ready to play good music and eager to put on a great show.

Box Talent Out and About was there to take pictures and mingle with the crowd who seemed to be enjoying The Stave’s mix of popular covers and original pieces. The band had a large table of fans that were there to support as well as a fun Friday night crowd out for a night on the town.

The band played full sets and on their short breaks, they took time to mingle with the crowd. The guys are all very nice and have great, easy-going personalities. With attitude and charisma, the Colt 45’s put on quite a show at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill. The Box Talent Out and About Team had a great time watching the band rock out on stage on Saturday, June 13, 2009. There was never a dull moment that evening at Toby Keith’s. The Colt 45’s got the crowd going with their cover of Cross Canadian’s Ragweed’s hit song “Alabama.”

The band took requests all night long from the crowd and just about everyone got to hear some of their favorites. The Colt 45’s had quite the fan base sitting by the stage for the duration of the show. People were two-stepping all over the place and even stayed to watch the band after they finished with their dinner.

"From start to finish, these guys rocked," said Allen, a frequent Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill customer.

The Box Talent Out and About Team had the pleasure of attending Ben Brock Live at Tapwerks on Saturday June 6, 2009. The crowd just could not get enough of Ben Brock and his fellow band members. There were people all over the dance floor grooving to his upbeat covers of familiar songs with a few original tunes mixed in.

“Ben Brock does some of the best covers of my favorite songs and his songs rock too,” gushed Alexandra, a regular Ben Brock concert go-er.

Ben Brock kept the crowd going all night until last call at the bar Tapwerks is a great venue and hang out.

Two stories high, the first story has a restaurant, bar, and lounge area that is non-smoking.
